We will take you on an anlog photo journey to see and capture Berlin’s best graffiti and street art. No previous photography knowledge needed!

You will start your urban photography experience at the RAW-Gelände in Friedrichshain. At the start of your tour you will learn how to use a vintage Polaroid camera from the 1990s.

Your local guide Thomas will help you capture Berlin’s urban and alternativ vibe on instant film.

While exploring you’ll get to see some of the city’s most colourful graffitis, cool galleries, creative street art and much more.

We want to show you why Polaroid photography is still important today.
During your analog photo exploration off-the-beaten-paths you will discover:
  • the RAW-Gelände, a vast area in Friedrichshain, which was former train workshop. There you will find exciting street art, cool bars, a skate hall and many things more.
  • Next we head over to the famous East Side Gallery. Over a 100 murals painted on remains of the Berlin Wall.
  • the peculiar Holzmarkt and explore the fascinating area with impressive street art and Berlin oddities like the Teledisko.
  • You will capture some of Berlins finest works of street art and graffiti by artists like El Bocho, Klebebande, Cranio and many more on instant film.

NEED TO KNOW

  • IS THIS TOUR FOR ME?
    • You do not have to be a photographer (not even remotely) to enjoy this tour. Just be curious about Berlin and get creative with the camera. I will help you along the way.
    • This experience needs your active participation. It gets better the more engaged you are with it.
  • Cut-Off Times: Tours can be booked online up until 24 hrs. prior the scheduled departure time. If a date has existing bookings it can be be booked up until 4 hours to the departure.
  • Short-Term Inquiries: If you like to join a tour within 24 hrs. to the departure just drop us a line. We try to make it happen: berlin@instant.tours
  • Private Tours: You want to book a tour but cannot find a suitable date? Inquire via e-mail and we will try scheduling one.
  • HOW TO BOOK YOUR TOUR:

We have planned a great tour for you. Exploring Berlin off-the-beaten-tracks you’ll see and experience the following:

  • RAW-Gelände – Lot’s of fantastic graffiti  in this huge former train workshop
  • Urban Spree –  Explore this place for art and culture, see the latest exhibitions by graffiti artists or buy a Berlin street art souvenir. Come back later for a beer or even a live concert
  • East Side Gallery – THE birthplace of graffiti in Berlin with over 100 murals
  • Holzmarkt – A place of endless opportunities. Bars, clubs, restaurants, street art, office and even a kindergarten. Add fantastic works of street art masters like Cranio and you have a must visit.
  • Everything in between – This tour is about exploring! It’s not about famous sights. It’s for finding the cool, new, interesting details in a city. Join us and get to know the real Berlin.

  • Standard Ticket includes vintage Polaroid rental camera and one pack of Polaroid Originals instant film worth 19 EUR
  • No-Camera Ticket does not include a rental camera nor the instant film. Perfect for someone who wants to use their own camera or accompany someone on the tour

The tour is operated in English. However all tour guides speak German as well.

Not Included

  • The No-Camera Ticket does not include a rental camera nor the instant film.
  • Gratuities (optional)

Cancellation & Refund

  • Cancellations: If you have to change or cancel a tour please let us know as soon as possible. Just write an email to booking@instant.tours. Within 48 hours prior your booked tours departure, we will refund you with the total amount paid.
  • Short-term cancellations (less than 48 hours before the tour’s departure): We will try to reschedule the tour with you. If we aren’t able to do so, a short-term cancellation will result in full payment of the agreed tour price for the scheduled time.
  • No-Shows: Please arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes prior the tour to ensure that we can start in time. If you do not show at the meeting point within 15 minutes after the scheduled departure of your tour we consider you a no-show. This means that you might not be able to join the tour and no refund will be given. If you already know that you might not be on time, please contract us via e-mail or call your local tour host.
  • Changes: If you want to change the date and/or time of your trip you must contact us as soon as possible in writing at booking@instant.tours. We will try to reschedule your trip with you, although we cannot guarantee that we will always be able to do this, as changes are subject to availability at the time.
  • Bad Weather: In most cases we meet you at the meeting point. There we will discuss our options, which are: rescheduling the tour, cancelling and refunding or running it anyway. In rare cases we cancel the tour beforehand by informing you via email and/or phone. If the tour you booked got cancelled due to bad weather we will try to reschedule it. In case the suggested options are not viable for you we will give you full refund.

We meet at the entrance to the Urban Spree at the RAW Gelände in Friedrichshain.

Directions:

  • There are many different different bars, clubs and more at the same address. Please prepare your arrival and meet me 10 minutes before the tour so we can get start once everyone is here.
  • Coming from the train station Warschauer Straße you take a right and enter the area. Walk down the stairs between “What A Wurst” and “Saray – Döner Kebab”. Walk a little further and turn right. There you will see a large graffiti of a fish, as well as the entrance to the Urban Spree. I will wait for you holding a Polaroid camera and a blue “Instant Tours” bag.
  • Coming from the Revaler Straße you enter the RAW-Gelände and make a right. Walk until you see the the mural of the fish and the entrance to the Urban Spree.

Important: Contact me if you are late or cannot find the meeting point. I can wait about 10 minutes but eventually we have to start the tour and then you wouldn’t be able to join.

Your tour ends at the Holzmarkt, close to the Berlin Ostbahnhof and S+U Jannowitzbrücke. There, we will review your pictures, answer your questions about what to do in Berlin, recommend places to eat and give tips on what to see and where to go.
